Simple Painted Fall Sign Decor

These simple scrolled words can be used to decorate a bookshelf, sprinkle around your entryway, or hang in the middle of a wreath. There’s no wrong place to put them, especially when they’re this beautifully painted.

Supplies for fall sign decor

• Scrolled words on MDF or wood – usually available at your local craft store this time of year.
• Fusion Mineral Paint in any fall colours. Check out September’s fall colour story or October’s colour story for inspiration. 
• Angled paint brushes to get all the nooks and crannies of the scrolled text
• Optional: any of our finishes to extend the life of your decor, and enhance the colour.

Steps for Painting Fall Decor

STEP 1

PREP

Start by ensuring each sign is dust and dirt free. You might even want to use TSP if there were price stickers that had to be removed.

STEP 2

COLOUR BLENDING

If creating custom colour blends – always encouraged – mix up some test batches before applying. Our sample sizes are perfect for this, especially if you’re trying our new colours. We recommend blending on a flat surface or in a paint tray.

STEP 3

PAINTING

Using a brush, paint each side of the words before using a fine-angled brush to get all the nooks and crannies, as well as the sides of the text.

Try one of our beautiful new Staalmeester Artist brushes for finely detailed areas. Repeat the process with as many word signs and colours as you’ve got, and then style them in your home!
