This Art Deco Vanity Desk was a thrift store find that was in surprisingly good condition. It didn’t need any repairs, just a good cleaning, and a light sanding.
We kept our supply list pretty simple.

Quick prep
Since this piece was already in amazing condition all we had to do was give it a quick clean with a 1:4 Fusion TSP Alternative to warm water and scrubbed it down with wiping cloths. After a light scuff sanding, it was ready for paint!
Sleek finish
We used our Staalmeester Round Brush to apply two coats of Fusion Mineral Paint “Coal Black” to our piece. Fusion’s coverage is amazing and Coal Black can give you nearly one coat coverage. In this case, our piece had an open grain and absorbed the first coat, so a second was needed to give us full coverage.
After our paint had dried, we applied Fusion Beeswax Finish and buffed it out for a beautiful satin finish. This deco vanity has a whole new modern look now!
You can glamorize art deco pieces like this simply by adding upscale hardware and some fun accents like a faux-fur upholstered bench we painted to match.
