We want to take you down memory lane because Fusion Mineral Paint turns 4 this year! If it feels like we’ve been around much longer, it’s because our parent company Homestead House Paint Co has been in business for almost 30 years.
When Loree and Scott started Homestead House in the late ‘80s, it was a very “mom and pops” type of operation and it started out as a reproduction furniture company. By 1989, they realized a need to create a paint line to replicate their beautiful old-world finishes, so they had manufactured their first paint line, an all-natural powdered casein-based paint, better known as Milk Paint. This was followed shortly after by a premium quality oil and acrylic range, which meant they could offer products for all possible applications.
Early colour cards from Homestead House
Their daughter who you know as Jennylyn Pringle, CEO of Fusion Mineral Paint, still remembers hand-painted colour cards hanging from a string drying in the hallways of their house and sitting around the dining room table with her grandparents making colour cards.

“I remember going to the shop after school and helping in any way possible. From an early age I was tinting gallons of paint by hand and pouring them off into half pints and quarts”, says Jennylyn. Anyone who has met Jennylyn knows she has an in-depth understanding of all things paint!
As the business grew, the upkeep for product demand was often times overwhelming and the family debated whether or not to continue. It was Jennylyn who convinced her parents not to give up on the family business and her parents gave her a chance to take the helm and grow the company into what it is today.
Things started to really take off after a chance discovery with the very popular blogger Miss Mustard Seed changed the trajectory of Homestead House, which ultimately led to Miss Mustard Seed’s paint line and many more retailers on board.

While milk paint was the beginning, Homestead House grew so much, that eventually, they decided to create another paint line. Which you now know as Fusion Mineral Paint!
“I would say that I never imagined in my wildest dreams of creating a paint brand that would be sold internationally,” says Jennylyn. “Originally I just wanted to rebrand the Homestead House line to give it a new life as the product was amazing and did so well in all the big box stores. But we changed who we wanted to do business with and invest in the smaller entrepreneur and really help them succeed.”
Jennlyn says developing the number of colours for Fusion Mineral Paint was very tough. They originally started with 16 but ended up launching with 24. She “just couldn’t do less for a well-rounded palette”. They were all the signature colours from our historical Homestead House palettes.

Not wanting to just stop at paint, Jennylyn decided to add a range of complementary accessories and additional products. This is so Homestead House could be the go-to one-stop shop for DIY paints and décor.
“To this day, we have stuck to our core offerings of a premium quality furniture paint that I custom created. Most recently we have added Staalmeester line of brushes to make painting a dream come true.”
You can’t think of Fusion Mineral Paint and not think of Jennlyn and Loree. The mother-daughter duo who work tirelessly to ensure that every merchant and customer is happy with their products. They are as synonymous with the brand as you can get.
Well, from Homestead House’s humble beginnings, this year Fusion Mineral Paint is celebrating their 4 year anniversary. The company is growing bigger than ever.
Fusion Mineral Paint has grown exponentially!
Fusion has created a series of YouTube videos and tutorials to help people educate people on how to paint and use different Fusion products. There is also their enormously popular Paint it Beautiful Facebook group (which boasts over 36,000 members). It is a great resource for Fusion and Homestead House users to share projects, ask questions and get help from experienced and novice painters alike. The future of Fusion is looking better than ever. Loree and Jennylyn created Paint It Beautiful so Fusion lovers could share their knowledge, expertise, and inspiration with each other.
“I started off doing my videos in my kitchen with my iPhone!” Jennylyn laughs. “And now we’re working with producers and videographers. We have a Fusion blog and entire social media teams to put out amazing ‘How To’ content for our dedicated merchants and customers.” At the root of many of Fusion’s initiatives is a desire to educate, inspire and share knowledge.
The Fusion Difference
While Fusion is turning 4, it took over ten years to develop, test and refine the paint that you love. It is an environmentally conscious formulation, with superior durability, easy one-step application and significantly improved strength. It delivers an exceptional matte finish, and it is a 100% acrylic paint that requires minimal prep work and no top coat needed. Currently, Fusion has over 50+ paint colours including a very popular line collaboration with Michael Penney from Penney & Co.
The Fusion Family
Fusion Mineral Paint is currently sold in over 20 countries and while they are continuously innovating new products and seeking to fill gaps in the market. Jennylyn says that they also want to keep the family feel. “It’s very important to me that our customers know that they are supporting a family business that cares.” Don’t be shocked if Jennylyn or Loree even comment on your beautiful furniture pieces in Paint It Beautiful!
Jennylyn shared “I listen to customers’ feedback. I use common sense. Our company excels in customer service because not only do we listen to our customer’s feedback, we make changes quickly! To this day, their paint containers are labelled by hand, proudly stating “We employ people, not machines. We support local jobs and the economy.”
Coming Up!
Next year is a big year for Homestead House as it will be the company’s 30th Anniversary. Jennylyn has literally grown up in this company and it is in many ways, her second, if not first home.
“We are truly honoured and thrilled that so many fantastic clients and customers have stood by our family-run company over our 25 years. It’s because of you that we’ve been able to continue to expand and offer exactly what you need. So let’s keep the communication going, so we can keep growing together!”
