UPDATING FABRIC WITH FUSION

Painting fabric is an inexpensive way to change up the look of a chair or stool. Upholstery can be expensive and choosing to DIY it yourself with Fusion mineral Paint can save you time and money. Fabric painting is best on structured surfaces rather than pillows or soft squishy couches. Dinning seat pads are a great example of a quick inexpensive makeover.

BEST FABRICS TO PAINT

We get asked this a lot! we recommend you use a close weave low nap fabric for the best results when painting fabric. Painting a high nap or pile fabric doesn’t work as well. Use a water spritz to damp your fabric and apply one coat, leave to fully dry over night is best. This coat will look not so great but trust the process! On your second coat you will see the magic happen. There is no need to add a topcoat to Fusion over Fabric, Fusion has it built into the formula.

PAINTING FABRIC

Fusion has a built in top coat so you do not need to add one, however when painting fabric some types of materials when painted can feel a little stiff. Adding a wax will help soften that and give a leather like feel to the finished fabric. Any of our waxes will work for this including our pigmented waxes. A quick upcyle project with a big impact.
