Fusion Mineral Paint’s Glaze is easy to use and allows you to get the exact finish YOU want! Whether that is an antique look, added depth or a special faux finish, Glaze is what you need. One of the great things about this product is that it can be used to get the same effects as waxes but it’s water-based. Adding any finishing product to a piece can be scary, we’re here to help you learn how to use this product to enhance your projects!
Glaze comes in two options, clear and antiquing. Antiquing Glaze is lightly tinted to a rich brown for the perfect antiquing look. You can custom-tint Clear Glaze with our paint or metallics to get the exact finish YOU want.
Our Glazes are excellent for faux finishes including faux wood grain, ragging, and striated patterns on furniture or walls. With exceptional ease of application with a long open time, our glaze delivers the performance of a professional finish that everyone can achieve!
How To Use Glaze:
- Make sure your piece is clean and wax/oil-free.
- Apply liberally with a brush of your choice.
- Immediately, Gently wipe back with a lint-free cloth.
- Continue to wipe back until you reach your desired effect.
Note: If after 24-48 hours you feel like you’ve left too much product, wipe back gently with a damp cloth.
Top Tips!
- Let freshly painted pieces dry for a minimum of 12 hours before applying Glaze as it can reactivate the paint.
- For high-traffic pieces, or large flat areas we recommend a topcoat as Glaze is not as durable as Fusion Mineral Paint.
- If using a topcoat, allow the glaze to dry for 24-48 hours before applying a topcoat using our Tough Coat or Gel Stain.
- If adding paint to the clear glaze to create a custom colour, do a test patch. This ensures your desired pigmentation is achieved prior to application.
- The cure time is 28 days. During this time you should treat your piece with extra care.
