Whether you’re revamping an old piece or creating a statement from scratch, Carriage House will add a touch of charm and character to your space.
Step-by-Step Guide to Upcycle Your Credenza with Carriage House
To embark on your credenza makeover, gather the following materials:
- Fusion Mineral Paint Carriage House
- Fusion TSP Alternative for cleaning
- Staalmeester Flat Brush for smooth application
- One Artist Brush for detailed work
- Fusion Mister Spray for paint dilution
- Upcycled sofa legs
- Fusion Mineral Paint Algonquin (for legs)
- Fusion Tough Coat Matte for sealing
- Wood filler for hole filling
Start by assessing your credenza’s needs. If you find it too low, consider adding extra height with recycled sofa legs. Glue four wood blocks to the bottom of the credenza and securely screw in the recycled legs. Sand down the legs to bare wood and apply a wash with Fusion’s Algonquin mixed with water. Once the paint wash is dry, seal the legs with Fusion Tough Coat Matte for added durability.
Next, address the hardware. Reposition the holes to accommodate new pulls and knobs, filling the old ones with wood filler. Ensure the surface is smooth and ready for the paint application.
Prep the credenza by cleaning it thoroughly using Fusion TSP Alternative diluted in water. Follow up with a good scuff-sanding to create a suitable surface for the paint to adhere to.
Once the prep is complete, apply two coats of Carriage House paint. Use a Staalmeester Flat Brush for the main surface and an Artist Brush for intricate details. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next.
Fusion Mineral Paint is self-levelling with a built-in top coat, but because we knew this credenza would get lots of use we chose to protect it with a coat of Tough Coat.
Add Finishing Touches and Revel in the Transformation
With the credenza now coated in Carriage House, it’s time to add the finishing touches. Install new champagne gold pulls and knobs that complement the elegant hue of Carriage House. The combination of the warm colour and the gleaming hardware will create a stunning visual impact, further enhancing the overall charm of the piece.
Step back and admire your credenza’s remarkable transformation. The elevated height, the sophisticated colour, and the updated hardware have breathed new life into this furniture staple. Whether it graces your living room, dining area, or entryway, the revamped credenza will undoubtedly become a conversation piece and a reflection of your impeccable style.
