Welcome to the cottage makeover series. Hi, I’m Jennylyn creator of Fusion Mineral Paint all in one foundation to finish one step paint for furniture and decor. Having been in the Paint and decor industry for over 20 years I just can’t wait to share with you what I’ve learned. I grew up with a paintbrush in my hand alongside my parents running their very own Paint company, for me painting was second nature but it doesn’t always come that easy for everyone. So let’s take away the intimidation of painting and show everyone that they can paint it beautiful. link
COTTAGE MAKEOVER SERIES WITH FUSION MINERAL PAINT
10 years ago I started to dream up perfect Paint. My goal was to create an easy to use product in project size containers, offering excellent coverage and superior durability. All the while being inexpensive and accessible. Our products are handmade here in Canada using the finest quality ingredients and hand packed to perfection. After two years of research and development, Fusion Mineral Paint was created. We are a family-owned and operated company. In keeping with this philosophy Fusion only works with independently owned boutiques and shops in over 30 countries worldwide.
Paint is one of the least expensive ways to completely transform outdated furniture and interior decor. We believe that Fusion Mineral paint is like a little pot of magic, it completely transforms spaces by bringing new life to furniture that is headed for the landfill.
The painting process is not complicated. Once you know the steps, you can paint virtually any surface from glass to plastic, tile floors to ceilings, kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities. The possibilities are endless. I’ve created a paint that can virtually do it all. With a built-in primer and topcoat and over 50 stunning colours to choose from, I’ve taken the guesswork out of which paint is the right one for you.

Through this cottage makeover series, I’m going to uncomplicate the process of choosing colours to help you to infuse Fusion in your own home.
THE PROCESS OF PAINTING IT BEAUTIFUL
This isn’t just about techniques and tips. It’s about how to evaluate a space and choose the right colours. It’s about how with just a little bit of inspiration, you can see beyond the current decor. Understand how paint can entirely recreate the feel of your home. When painting, not only do you transform your space through new design elements and colour, you transform yourself. Colour can change how you feel in that space and make it your own.
Just the sheer physical act of painting is repetitive and meditative, it is known to lower cortisol and decrease stress. Paint can help us through incredibly difficult times. The calm that comes with the brush in hand as well as a room refresh can help to reset your mindset. As well, upcycling your own furniture saves money, and lessens the financial burden of renovations!
In this Makeover Series, I go beyond furniture and I share with you ways you can use paint to transform entire rooms. We will upcycle, DIY decor with Fusion Mineral Paint. These updates are budget-friendly and simple to do! You do not need to be a pro upcycler to get great results with Fusion Mineral Paint. Simple touches that make all the difference are always the most satisfying.
THE COTTAGE
When we purchased this cottage two years ago we were excited to spend quality time together as a a family. We felt the space was very cluttered but had potential! The walls and floors were dark and overall the space felt outdated. With such huge design potential, I was excited to bring life and colour to this space with paint. Adding our personalities to it and make this my families cottage. Last summer, I decided to take on the challenge of redecorating this lakeside cottage in beautiful northern Ontario. The location of the cottage was supreme with awesome views of the water and woods. This was a home away from home that anyone would love.
I stepped inside and took in the space. So much wood on wood. From the plank walls and floors to a huge, long dining room table. Large couches were bland beige. The main rooms and bedrooms were stuffed with furniture. To me it felt like the opposite of the bright and airy outdoors. This cottage called for a refresh. And I knew I could do that with paint!
Starting the Makeover
Each room was assessed for its good and not so good qualities. Then I set about to reinvent the glorious charm of country living using a contemporary palette of whites and pastels, with a few surprises in the bedrooms. Using my favourite decorating tool, Fusion Mineral Paint, I Painted It Beautiful.
I am so excited to share my journey with you. What inspired me, how I chose colours, and how I kept on budget while replacing the furniture that didn’t appeal to me. It is my hope that you will be inspired to make some changes that suit your home. Our adventure begins in one of the bedrooms. I will show you simple paint hacks to update the furniture in your house to make it a home. Stay tuned for the next instalment of the cottage makeover series “Cottage Series: The Nautical Room” releasing next week!
