WHAT DO I USE FUSION EXTENDER FOR?
Fusion™ Extender is used to “extend” the open time of Fusion Mineral Paint™ – meaning it takes longer to dry. People use it mainly to help avoid brush strokes and to help make blending really easy. If you’re doing a large piece, mix 1/4 bottle of Extender into a pint of paint and mix well. We recommend using only about 1 part Extender to 10 parts paint (10 mL of Extender to 100 mL of paint). If you want to use more than the recommended ratio, what will happen? The more Extender you use, the longer it will take to dry. If you use too much, you could end up with a drying time of more than a day!
It will also increase your cure time, which means the paint will take longer to get to its most durable state. Why does using the Extender make the curing time longer? The Extender has propylene glycol in it, which draws water toward it. Because it likes to hold onto the water, it takes a long time for the water to evaporate from the paint and cure. The more Extender you add, the more water it holds, and the longer it takes to cure.
