Jennylyn’s Style Ideas for Rental Spaces: Kids Rooms
Moving into a rented townhouse with strict rules about permanent changes posed a challenge, especially when it came to creating an inviting bedroom for my son. However, armed with Fusion™ Mineral Paint and Homestead House wall paint, I embarked on a budget-friendly makeover that not only adhered to landlord-friendly decor but also brought life to a characterless room.
Revamping the White Canvas with Fusion™ Mineral Paint
The townhouse’s blank canvas, featuring builder’s white walls and an uninspiring grey carpet, left much to be desired. To combat this, I employed Fusion™ Mineral Paint to infuse vibrancy without violating any rental guidelines. The key was to strike a balance between lively colours and neutral tones, with pops of yellow accents found in cushions and decor items. Large green plants brought a touch of quiet life to the space, offsetting the high energy of vibrant hues.
Create an Inviting Bedroom for Your Child
A bright yellow accent wall became the focal point, adorned with animated Marvel characters sourced from Amazon. The watercolour artwork on this wall, combined with a carefully chosen area rug and accessories in greys and blacks, maintained harmony in the room. To avoid overwhelming the space with bold colours, incorporating neutral elements brings life and colour into the space.
Introducing a Plant Station
To foster both aesthetics and education, I transformed an IKEA storage unit into a stylish plant station using Fusion’s Soapstone. This DIY project not only added a unique touch but also served as a learning experience for my son. With designated spaces for gardening supplies and toy bins, it brought functionality while contributing to the overall theme. It has been cute watching him take care of his plants.
Kids Bedtime Bliss in Contrasting Hues
The choice of a dark blue bunk bed at one end of the room provided a tranquil and stable feel, promising sweet dreams. Contrasted with the bright yellow Little Star wall and connected by a neutral-patterned carpet, the room showcased a perfect blend of colours. Choosing warm white walls and a cosy carpet added to the inviting and playful ambience.
Warm white walls and a cozy carpet offset the navy blue bunkbed keeping the room inviting and playful.
The plant station is an easy DIY, perfect for learning and storage.
