Hi, I’m Jennylyn Pringle, creator of Fusion Mineral Paint, and today I’m sharing one of my favourite types of makeovers—the kind that saves a piece from the landfill and gives it a vibrant new story. This little dresser came to us from Habitat for Humanity. Worn, tired, and well-loved (in the messiest way), it was the perfect canvas for a creative revival. I wanted to take it in a direction that was bold, artistic, and a little bit grungy—and the verdigris dresser with the copper combo was calling my name.
Spoiler alert: it turned out so good.
Products Used: Verdigris Dresser
The Prep: Clean Slate, Clean Start
Before we even think about paint, we prep. This dresser had seen better days—dirt, grime, and a few rogue stickers. Here’s what I used:
- Fusion TSP Alternative – our eco-friendly degreaser. I mixed two capfuls into a litre of water and gave the whole piece a thorough wash-down.
- Odourless Solvent – perfect for sticky messes like adhesive residue.
Pro tip: If your piece has damaged veneer or raw wood spots, give it extra time to dry after cleaning. Moisture in bare wood = paint adhesion problems.
The Star: Juniper from the Alchemy Line
Let’s talk colour. Juniper is a bold, vibrant green with the kind of personality that makes a statement. I applied two coats using my trusty Staalmeester brush, letting that rich pigment settle in beautifully. Smooth, matte, and oh-so-satisfying.

And because this formula is self-levelling and forgiving, it already looks finished, even before the next steps.
Let’s Get Grungy: The Verdigris Effect
Now for the fun part. To create that gorgeous oxidized metal effect, I grabbed a mix of Fusion Metallics and Alchemy Colours:

Using a mister, I layered and blended the colours over the bottom half of the dresser, letting them drip, blend, and play off each other. It’s messy, it’s artistic, and it’s beautifully imperfect—just how we like it.
Detail Magic: Highlighting Texture & Hardware
The water damage on the top of the dresser actually worked in our favour here. I dry-brushed metallic Copper over the bubbled areas to mimic hammered metal. The result? An aged, industrial-chic vibe that feels like a happy accident.
For the hardware, I used Fusion’s Copper paint on wood drawer pulls (yep, it works on wood and metal). Then, I gave them a subtle Juniper wash with a touch of Onyx to tone it down and blend it seamlessly into the piece.

The Final Look: Verdigris Dresser

This dresser went from forgotten to fabulous—and now it’s a showstopper. A blend of bold green, rich metallics, and earthy patina brought it all to life.

✨ The takeaway? Don’t be afraid to play. Paint is forgiving, Fusion is reliable, and your creativity is your secret weapon.
