What Makes Our Stain & Finishing Oil Exceptional?

Our Stain and Finishing Oil is more than just a stain; it’s a wood conditioner, a stain, and a topcoat all in one, designed to offer exceptional durability in high-traffic areas like tabletops, kitchen cabinets, and flooring.

Here’s what sets it apart:

Multi-Functional: it can be used on bare wood or over previously painted surfaces as a glaze.
Highly Durable: No additional top coat is required. A coat of Natural SFO can increase sheen and durability for added durability without intensifying the colour.
Easy Application: When applied over Fusion Mineral Paint™ for a glaze effect or to increase the sheen, remove excess immediately to avoid a sticky finish.
Concentrated Pigments: Our special blend is highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way. A 237 mL container covers the same area as 1 litre of comparable stains.

Using SFO Over Bare Wood

The natural pigments in the SFO enhance the wood’s grain, providing a beautiful accentuation. This blend of natural oils and resins penetrates deeply into the wood fibres, creating a robust, water-resistant finish that becomes an integral part of the wood.

Using our Stain and Finishing Oil over bare wood is a straightforward process that brings out the natural beauty of the wood grain. Here’s how to do it:

First, clean your wood surface thoroughly, then sand it evenly. We recommend using no higher than 180 grit sandpaper. If the wood is in rough condition, start with 120 grit, then move to 150 grit, and finally finish with 180 grit for a smooth, even surface.
Generously apply the SFO by pouring it onto the surface or brushing it on, ensuring even coverage on properly prepped and sanded wood.
Allow it to penetrate for up to 15 minutes.
Remove any excess with a clean rag, using even pressure.
Optional Second Coat For added depth of colour or increased sheen, apply a second coat after 9 hours.

Using SFO Over Fusion™ Mineral Paint

When using SFO over Fusion™ Mineral Paint, it increases protection and sheen. Here are some tips for a flawless finish:

1. Apply SFO in thin amounts and buff it on larger painted surfaces.

2. Avoid Streaks Use long strokes from end to end to prevent lines or streaks. For tabletops, apply in circular motions and remove excess to achieve the thinnest, even application possible.
