Wellington Tall Dresser Makeover
We gave this tall dresser a new makeover in a dark green shade. We painted it in the colour Wellington Before we started our makeover, we removed all the original brass hardware and scrubbed them with Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser. This totally brought back the soft gold shine. We also had to address removing the contact paper installed inside the drawers. The best way to remove old contact paper is to go over the contact paper with a heat gun. This will help to lift it more easily. If you have a second pair of hands, the task goes much easier.
Once the paper was removed, we had some sticky residue left, especially in the perimeters of the drawers. To remove the sticky residue, we brushed on some Fusion Odourless Solvent with a chip brush and let it sit for a few minutes and then wiped it with a rag, adding just a bit of pressure. The oils help remove the sticky residue.
To prep the dresser to receive the new paint, we gave it a good cleaning with Fusion TSP Alternative, followed by a good sanding.
We painted two coats of Fusion Wellington using the Staalmeester Flat One Brush, and wow, what a transformation.
We re-installed the cleaned gold brass hardware which now shines brightly against the deep green colour. What a match!
