Upcycling a side table is an easy afternoon project with Milk Paint by Fusion! We’re going to add a fun pop of colour using our Palm Springs Pink! Watch this Side Table Transformation in One Hour (and for under $40)!
All you need for a project like this is:
Prep
Prep for Milk Paint is really easy! This table was previously painted so we gave it a light sanding to de-gloss it. We didn’t want to add the bonding agent, as the finish was dull enough that the Milk Paint could adhere without any issues.
Mixing Milk Paint & Painting
We mixed the Palm Springs Pink for regular opaque coverage. 1 Part Powder to 1 Part water. We applied Palm Springs Pink using a Staalmeester brush, we LOVE these brushes so much! They hold the paint really well and apply it so smoothly.
Painting & Top Coat Finish
We waited 20-30 minutes between coats. We only needed 2 coats for this solid opaque coverage. Milk Paint dries so quickly, that you can actually see the colour changing as it dries, it goes more chalk-like and lighter. Don’t worry, when you add your top coat the true colour will come to life! Milk Paint can sometimes have a rough texture, so it’s always recommended to give a light sanding to smooth out the finish after you’ve applied your final coat of paint. Taking a finishing sanding pad 220 grit or higher, lightly sanded the top smooth and then applied Fusion Clear Wax for protection. Don’t forget to buff out the wax to really bring it to life!
