We are transforming thrifted finds in our latest furniture makeover adventure. We took two identical shelves with different finishes and transformed them into a stunning tall bookshelf, poised to showcase thrifted vases awaiting their own makeover. Here’s a breakdown of the materials and techniques that brought this project to life:
Materials Used For the Bookshelf:

Transforming A Bookcase With Fusion
Our primary goal was to merge two shelves with distinct finishes into one cohesive bookshelf. The process began by adding v-joint panelling to the back of each shelf, providing a visually appealing backdrop. A thorough cleaning with Fusion TSP Cleaner set the stage for the Fusion Mineral Paint application in Victorian Lace.
Using the Staalmeester Microfelt Paint Roller and Paint Pan, we smoothly coated the shelves. Given the different original finishes, approximately 3 coats were needed to achieve an even colour. To ensure the paint reached the v-joints of the pine panelling, the Staalmeester Pointed Sash Brush proved invaluable.
Thrifted Vases Makeover With Fusion Fresco
The thrifted vases, diverse in shapes and finishes, were our next canvas. After cleaning them in water and Fusion TSP Alternative Cleaner, a primer was applied to the glass vase. The magic happened when we mixed Fresco Powder with leftover Victorian Lace and Limestone Fusion Mineral Paint, adjusting the texture to our liking.

Fusion Thrifted Bookcases and Vases
The application was an easy endeavour using Fusion Chip Brushes – brushing and spackling the Fresco Powder mix onto the vases. This technique not only unified the collection but also added a delightful texture, setting the stage for a cohesive and charming display.
