Elderberry Halloween Makeover
When it comes to Halloween decor, it’s time to think beyond the typical orange and black. Why not add a touch of sophistication to your spooktacular space with a makeover featuring Elderberry? A vibrant yet refined shade of purple. This deep, moody hue is the perfect choice to infuse your home with a calculated drop of colour. An Old Unfinished Project
We had an old demo piece lying around the warehouse and decided to give it a fresh lease on life with an Elderberry-inspired Halloween makeover. The piece was unique because it had one side dark and the other white. Both are heavily textured with a chunky milk paint finish. Here’s how we transformed it into something hauntingly beautiful.
Prepping A Textured Surface
Before diving into the transformation, we cleaned the piece thoroughly with a TSP Alternative. This ensures a clean canvas for our makeover. The dust can collect on the textured surface so we made sure to clean well. Fusion will adhere extremely well to unsealed milk paint.
Elderberry Elegance
With our canvas clean, we applied one coat of Elderberry. The coverage over the different colours is very noticeable, but 2 coats covered it well. The transformation was already astonishing, covering the textured surface and effortlessly concealing the two different base colours. After the first coat dried, we applied a second coat to achieve a flawless finish.
Mixing A Custom Glaze
Taking it to the next level, we created a custom black glaze using Coal Black and Fusion’s Clear Glaze. Custom glazes are a fantastic way to add depth and character to your furniture pieces. The glaze clung beautifully to the chunky texture, enhancing the overall look.
Custom glazes are incredibly versatile; the colour ratio can be adjusted to your liking. If you prefer a more opaque finish, simply add more paint. For a sheer effect, use less paint in your glaze mixture. This customization allows you to achieve the precise look you desire.
Halloween Decorating
With our Elderberry and black Glaze makeover complete, it was time to have some Halloween fun. This piece is incredibly versatile and can seamlessly blend with various decor schemes. Whether your walls are light or dark, Elderberry will stand out. It is bound to add an air of elegance to your Halloween decor.
Consider pairing it with ornate mirrors, candle sconces, antique frames, or even a gothic chandelier to create a Halloween-inspired space that oozes sophistication.
